Bernard Thompson's career night wasn't enough for Florida Gulf Coast on Sunday in Raleigh.
Thompson, a sophomore from Rockdale, scored a career-high 24 points in Gulf Coast's 88-67 loss to Associated Press No. 9 Duke. The Eagles actually led 30-29 with 5:43 left in the opening half before Duke went on a 30-0 run that stretched into the first two minutes of the second half.
Thompson, who is averaging a team-high 17.3 points and shooting a team-high 56 percent from the field, hit 9 of 13 shots, including 6 of 8 from three-point range against the Blue Devils.
Florida Gulf Coast (2-2) hosts Alcorn State today at 7:05 p.m.
