COVINGTON -- Newton County Library System is offering lots of activities for the winter.

All children ages 12 and under are invited to participate in the Newton County Library System Winter Reading Program from Dec. 1-31.

Drop by any branch/website of the Newton County Library System and pick up a Winter Reading Log.

Children who read four books, record them on their Winter Reading Log and return the log to any branch of the Newton County Library will receive a prize. Those who complete the reading log can register to win a special grand prize.

The library is also hosting several children's programs this winter, including Pajama Storytime, taking place at 7 p.m., Tuesday, Dec. 11 at Porter Memorial Library and Thursday, Dec. 13 at the Covington branch and at 4 p.m. Monday, Dec. 17 at the Newborn service outlet. Winter movies will be shown at 6:30 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 19 at Porter Memorial and on Thursday, Dec. 20 at the Covington branch.

Also, the Gingerbread Man Scavenger Hunt will take place at all outlets Dec. 5 and Dec. 12.
