CONYERS --This weekend a cross country race will benefit the Elks Aidmore Children's Center.
The 14th annual cross country race is scheduled to take place on the center's 141 acres and its marked nature trails; the facility is located at 2394 Morrison Road, Conyers. It will include a 5K Turkey Trot and a one-mile fun walk/run.
The 5K begins at 9 a.m. Saturday, and the fun walk will begin shortly after. Registration begins at 8 a.m. or online at www.elksaidmore.com.
Preregistration costs $20 or $25 the day of the race. For ages 8 and under, registration is $10 in advanced and $15 the day of the race.
All finishers in the 5K will receive a commemorative ribbon, and awards will go to the overall male and female finisher, master and top three in various age groups. Special prizes will be given to the youngest and oldest runners, families with most members and families with the most generations.
This facility has provided services to Georgia's children for more than eight decades. It provides safe housing, GED and vocational training, recreational facilities, life skill development and transitional services.
