CARROLLTON -- The Rockdale boy's cross country team completed one of the best seasons in the program's history with a top-15 showing at last weekend's Class AAAAAA state meet.
The Bulldogs, led by 29th-place finisher Patrick Massie (17:20.96), placed 15th as a team. Newton, which was paced by Alex Grady (23rd at 17:14.44) finished 19th.
In the Class AAAAA boy's race, Salem's Gabriel Alvarez ran in 17:42.76 to finish 22nd.Mustangs Win TitleCONYERS -- The East Atlanta Mustangs capped a historic season with a 20-14 win over Anderson in the championship game of the Glory for Christ Football League.
East Atlanta, which is a high school-aged team comprised of home-schooled students and students who attend private, Christian school that don't offer football, finished the year 10-2.
In the title game, Anderson led 14-6 before Davante Adams scored on a two-yard run with 6:27 left in the first half to get East Atlanta within 14-12. After a scoreless third quarter, Anderson got inside the Mustangs' five-yard line, but fumbled. East Atlanta recovered and marched nearly the length of the field for winning touchdown with 4:46 to play.
