Salem drops finale 56-34 to Loganville

LOGANVILLE -- In Friday's season finale at Loganville, Salem reached its season high in points. Unfortunately for the Conyers school, it also had a season high in points allowed. Loganville closed the 2012 regular season by blowing out Salem 56-34 at Red Devil Stadium.

Salem finished the season 2-8 and 1-7 in Region 8-AAAAA, completing a miserable month and a half on a six-game losing streak. During the skid, the Seminoles scored just 72 points total while surrendering an average of more than 35 points per game.

Loganville (4-6, 3-5) won its final two games, which included an upset of Gainesville on Nov. 2, and finished 4-6 and 3-5 in league play.Pittman big in 40-0 win over MorrowJONESBORO -- Newton quarterback Kemaini Pittman rushed for two touchdowns and threw for another in the Rams' 40-0 shutdown over Morrow on Friday at Tara Stadium.

After running for a touchdown, Pittman threw the ball to Darion Kinsey giving the Rams (5-5 overall, 5-1 Region 2-AAAAAA) a 14-0 lead in the first quarter.

Pittman teamed with James Hardeman while calling his own number sending the Rams into the locker room 27-0 at the half.

Newton continued where they left off in the third quarter with Hardeman rushing in the third quarter before freshman quarterback Artice Hobbs got into the action scoring in the fourth period.

The Mustangs ended their season with an overall record of 1-9 while going winless in region play.

The Rams advanced to the first round of the Class AAAAAA playoffs where they face East Coweta while Alcovy, who lost to Lovejoy 56-0, head to play Newnan on Friday.
