Piedmont names Homecoming Queen, Miss Cougar

MONTICELLO -- The 2012 homecoming festivities for Piedmont Academy recently concluded with the crowning of Miss Cougar Lacy Adamson, of Mansfield, and Homecoming Queen Heather Tyler, of Monticello.

With clear weather for the evening and prior to the football game, the court paraded the field riding in convertibles.

Ten high school girls were represented on the homecoming court.

The freshman representative was Haley Tyler, daughter of Jim and Laura Tyler of Monticello. Haley's escort was Chet Williamson.

Escorted by their fathers, sophomore representatives included Cheyenne Galloway, daughter of Brent and Beth Galloway of Monticello and Parker Kelly, daughter of Scott and Stephanie Kelly of Monticello.

The junior class was represented by Jordon Blackmon, daughter of Bob and Connie Blackmon of Newborn; Halley Hedrick, daughter of Missy Harbin and Israel Hedrick of Monticello; and Beth Anne Mahaffey, daughter of Allan and Julie Branan of Jackson and Blair and Michelle Mahaffey of McDonough. Their escorts included their fathers.

Senior representatives included Dallas Fletcher, daughter of Scott and Kelley Fletcher of Jackson; Lucy Strickland, daughter of David Strickland and Rebecca Strickland of Covington; Kacy Swart, daughter of David and Michelle Swart of Covington; and Heather Tyler, daughter of Jim and Laura Tyler of Monticello. All senior girls were escorted by their father.

Adamson was chosen by the varsity football team as Miss Cougar prior to voting for homecoming queen. She is the daughter of Donnie and Lori Adamson of Mansfield.

Miss Cougar 2011, Savannah Holifield, crowned Adamson, and the school's homecoming queen for 2011, Amy Anuszczyk, crowned Tyler.

This year's queens represented Piedmont Academy in the Jasper County Deer Festival parade over the weekend.
