COVINGTON -- Four players -- almost half of the All-Region 2-AAAAAA softball first team -- came from Alcovy, plus three more were named to the second team.
Rockdale also made its mark on the all-region team, with three players making the first team and one player on the second.
Earning first-team honors for the Lady Tigers were senior Chelsea Murphy (pitcher), freshman Kalia Johnson (infield), senior Kia Sorrells with senior Marie Peck being named the designated player.
Making the first team from Rockdale were India Davis (infield), Candace Johnson (outfield) and Breanna Richardson (outfield).
The rest of the first team consisted of Druid Hills catcher Demaya Davis (junior), Luella infielder Alexia Boggess and Druid Hills outfielder senior Kayla Cato.
Lovejoy and Alcovy players led the list of second-team players with three each, followed by two from Druid Hills and one each from Rockdale and Luella.
Named to the second team are Luella pitcher Labrisha Washington, Alcovy catcher Morgan Beshears, Alcovy infielder Morgan Mobley, Alcovy infielder Waneshia Morris, Lovejoy infielder Christin Morris, Lovejoy infielder Tiana Mason, Druid Hills infielder Ellie Studdard, Lovejoy outfielder Na-keya Craig, Druid Hills outfielder Nicole Gilkeson and Rockdale designated player Taylor Johnson.
