Sunny skies allowed Rockdale and Newton county graduation ceremonies to go off without a hitch this week on some of the hottest days of the year so far. About 2,000 students from Alcovy, Eastside, Heritage, Newton, Rockdale County and Salem high schools participated in commencement exercises, saying goodbye to high school and hello to their next phase of life. For some that means attending a two- or four-year university, and for others that means joining the military or getting straight to work. The Citizen staff captured a few stories and images from the ceremonies. Additionally, the Rockdale Career Academy is selling DVDs from each Rockdale County graduation, and schools in Newton County have information about ordering their ceremonies on DVD. For a look at individual schools' graduations, please see pages B4 through B6. More images are on page B7.
