JEFFERSON -- Salem's Dontavius Wright came up short of winning the Class AAAA 800-meter run, finishing .33 second behind Greenbrier's Brandon Coombs at Jefferson Memorial Stadium.
Coombs won the event with a time of 1:52.85, with Wright crossing the line in 1:53.18.
Finishing fifth in the AAAA 800 was Alcovy's Damontae Ivey with a time of 1:56.71.
Wright, who was coming off individual titles in both the 400 and 800 at the Class AAAA East Sectionals, placed seventh in the 400 meters (48.95), helping the Seminoles finish 26th in the team standings with 10 points. Also earning 10 team points were Evans and Flowery Branch.
Also competing in the Class AAAA meet for Alcovy but not scoring any team points was Josh Echols, who finished 13th in the long jump with a distance of 20 feet, 11.25 inches.
Rockdale's Kemoi Thomas was seventh in the 100 meters, running in 10.97.
As a team, Alcovy, along with Northwest Whitfield and Southwest DeKalb, finished 41st with four points while Rockdale, which had two points, came in 46th overall. Joining Rockdale were Dunwoody, Statesboro and Union Grove.
In the Class AAA meet, Eastside scored five points to come in a four-way tie for 30th place with West Laurens, Walnut Grove and LaGrange.
Eastside's points came from Jomandi Smith who came in fourth in the long jump with a distance of 22-08.5.
Participating in the shot put was Sheldon Rankins whose throw of 47-feet was good enough for 10th place.
Newton's Malik Franklin provided eight of Newton's 12-team points in the Class AAAAA meet to give the Rams a 20th place finish.
Franklin came in fourth in long jump (22-05.25) and sixth in the triple jump (45-04.50). Darmon Gresham had a throw of 49-10 in the shot put while Duronte Carter ran the 300-hurdles in 40.48 for a pair of seventh place finishes.
Not scoring but running in a couple of events representing Newton was Alex Grady who participated in the 1,600 (4:24.68) and 3,200 (9:48.69) run.
