Social Circle Schools announces superintendent finalists

SOCIAL CIRCLE -- Social Circle City Schools has announced its three finalists for its next superintendent.

The system announced Tuesday morning that the three finalists are Dr. Melinda Ellis, deputy superintendent for Butts County Schools; Dr. Mikki Garcia, Savannah-Chatham Schools' executive director for middle schools and exceptional children; and Dr. Todd McGhee, principal at Elbert County High School.

The announcement came after the Board of Education met Monday night to interview candidates.

The board hasn't announced when it will make a decision on the final candidate. Its next board meeting is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Thursday.

Current Social Circle Superintendent Bettye Ray plans to retire in June.
