Meet Trixie. She's an 8-week old shepherd-mix with an elegant black and tan muzzle. She'll grow to weigh about 60 pounds and will make a great addition to any family. She'll be given all necessary shots before she leaves the shelter. She can be rescued and adopted at Rockdale County Animal Care and Control Shelter at 1506 Rockbridge Road in Conyers. At the Rockdale shelter adoption fees for dogs are $30 and $20 for cats. Spaying or neutering is required for adoption. This 9-week-old little guy is looking for someone to give him his first home. He's been named Banjo. A terrier-mix, he'll probably weigh about 25 pounds as an adult. He can be rescued and adopted at Newton County Animal Shelter, located at 210 Lower River Road in Covington. The shelter usually has between 20 to 30 dogs and an equal number of cats eligible for adoption. The adoption fee for a dog or puppy is $25 and $10 for a cat or kitten. Spaying/neutering is mandatory for all animals. The shelter is open from 11 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday and from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturdays. The phone number is 770-786-9514.
