SOCIAL CIRCLE -- Law enforcement officials are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the death of a man found Thursday night in the woods near U.S. Highway 278 and Interstate 20 in Social Circle.
According to a press release from Tom Fox, Social Circle's director of public safety, a motorist called 911 around 11:44 p.m. to report a brush fire.
"When firefighters arrived to extinguish the fire, they discovered a body in the nearby woods," Fox stated in the press release.
The person is believed to be a black male, possibly in his early 30s, he stated.
"At this time, the person has not been identified," Fox said.

An autopsy will be conducted at the GBI Crime Lab in Decatur, according to a press release from John Bankhead, spokesman for the GBI.
Fox said more information will be released as it becomes available.
