Newton school board names principals

COVINGTON -- The Newton County Board of Education has selected two principals to replace two of three retiring principals this school year.

The school board announced Tuesday at its monthly meeting that Jeff Cher will be principal of Eastside High School effective July 1, and Dr. Lynne DiNardo will be principal of Mansfield Elementary School.

Earlier this month, Mansfield Elementary School Principal G.W. Davis, Newton County Theme School Principal Ruth Anne Smith and Eastside High School Principal Dennis Roddenberry announced that they will retire at the end of the school year.

Additionally, the school board also approved the promotion of Samantha Fuhrey to Deputy Superintendent for Curriculum and Instruction. Fuhrey currently serves as director of Secondary Education at the Newton County School System; earlier this month, Dr. Ken Proctor announced that he is resigning from his position as director of Elementary Education at NCSS effective April 13.

Thank goodness Mr Meadors spoke up at this so that the two who are up for re-election did not have a coup. Mrs Furey is wonderful and did not deserve humiliation at the hands of 2 board members. Thank you Mr Meadors for speaking up and making it clear that this exactly how the deputy superintendent was hired.

I'm curious, what did Mr. Meadors say? I was unable to attend the meeting and the county is always so slow to provide the video link. Thanks.

It is time to elect someone new in in both districts 2 and 4. We need someone to run in district 2. He never replies to emails and pulls crap like last night this was not fair to a lady like Mrs. Fuhrey .

Please somebody run in district 2 for school board it will be an easy win.

What is going on with board members who do not want to support these good ideas of our superintendent? What is wrong with them and remember that qualifying is May 23-25 and we can have a new beginning in 2013.

I am still in total shock about the 2 board members that voted against Sam Fuhrey.

My question is are they in bed with the famous conflict of interest duet?
