Two injured, three jailed in family fight

CONYERS -- A family fight involving three men left one with a badly broken leg and another with a bitten ear before all three went to jail.

Deputies with the Rockdale County Sheriff's Office were called to 116 Oglesby Bridge Road at about 3:30 a.m. March 4 where the owner said that her two brothers -- Gregory Phil Duffee, 48, and Dean Gordon Duffee, 46, all of the same address, had gotten into a fight with the owner's son, Tony Wayne Christian, 44.

When deputies arrived, Christian was locked in a shed in the back yard, which was described as his living quarters. Christian was reportedly injured and couldn't open the door, so deputies were given permission to kick in the door. Inside they found Christian with blood running down his leg and with abrasions on his face.

According to the incident report, Gregory Duffee was inside the main house, but Gordon Duffee had left in a blue Chevrolet pickup with his girlfriend.

Gregory Duffee told the deputy that Christian had come home that day "acting crazy" and had apparently used a chain to move the blue pickup out of a shop on the property. Gregory said that he and his brother went out and started cussing at Christian and that Christian grabbed Gregory by the throat and started biting his ear.

Gordon Duffee intervened and Gregory got away and ran inside the house. Gordon came in a short time later, said "I got to go, I F'd him up," and left in the blue pickup, according to the report.

Christian claimed that an aluminum bat was used to break his leg. A bat was recovered at the scene.

Gregory Duffee and Christian were transported to Rockdale Medical Center emergency room where a doctor said that Christian's lower left leg was badly broken and would require several surgeries. Gregory Duffee had a deep laceration to his ear and received several stitches.

"Due to the testimonies of all parties involved, and the fact that Gordon fled the scene before our arrival, he is charged with aggravated assault against Tony Christian," the deputy wrote in his report. "Greg Duffee is charged with simple battery (Family Violence) against Tony Christian, and Tony Christian is charged with battery (Family Violence) against Greg Duffee."

Gregory Duffee and Christian were taken to jail from the ER. Gordon Duffee was served with a warrant at the jail. All three remained in the Rockdale County Jail as of Friday.
