The Heritage tennis teams took care of rival Salem on Thursday in Conyers.
The girls had no trouble, winning 5-0 thanks to a dominant victory at No. 1 singles by Alix Maloney (6-0, 6-0 over Amber Cannon). Nos. 2 and 3 singles players Kaylee Humphries and Ashley Merkel took care of business as well, winning 6-2, 6-1 and 6-0, 6-2 over Amulen Wirsy and Jessica Lustenberger, respectively.
The Patriots' No. 2 doubles team of Fran Murry and Devon McLaurins, coming off an emotional, 2-1 victory over Rockdale on Wednesday, defeated another rival in Salem's duo of Vikita Valle and Niasia Rouse 6-0, 6-1.
At No. 2 doubles, Kenzie Zirbel and Julie Roseberry survived a 7-5 win in the first set, then in set two won 6-1 over Abby Adams and Michelle Armstrong.
The Heritage boys got four straight set victories to help defeat Salem 4-1.
Demetrius Lewis knocked off Josh Lustenberger, 6-2, 6-2 at No. 1 singles, while Jay Vinson (6-0, 6-1) and Levi Lund (6-2, 6-3) won at Nos. 2 and 3 singles, respectively. Ronnie Flow and Kevin Blum made short work of Anthony Lewis and Mario Heard in a 6-1, 6-1 win at No. 2 doubles.
Salem's only win of the day came at No. 1 doubles as Simon Velasquez and Eli Adams lost the first set 6-0, but rallied for 6-4 and 7-5 wins in the final two sets.
