COVINGTON -- Temporary vending permits will now be issued for the downtown district.
The Covington City Council approved the policies and procedures for such permits at its March 5 meeting at the request of Main Street Covington Director Josephine Kelly.
The permits will allow vendors to sell food and beverages, arts and crafts, and promotional items and products related to the event and not already sold in the downtown area.
Vendors will only be allowed on public streets within the Town Center Mix district for events requiring road closures and the Main Street Covington Board, with input from the Main Street Dining and Food Group and the City Council if needed, will decide the type and number of vendors that will be allowed at events.
Event permits will be amended to include a section for temporary vending permits. Applications will go through the Covington Police Department and Main Street Covington. Applications must be filed between 10 and 60 days prior to the event.
