A variety of dogs and cats available at Newton, Rockdale shelters this week

This charming little lady has been dubbed Winnie. Obviously a terrier-mix, she's about a year old, very friendly, and walks on a leash. She was found as a stray and needs a new home. She can be rescued and adopted at Newton County Animal Shelter, located at 210 Lower River Road in Covington. The shelter usually has between 20 to 30 dogs and an equal number of cats eligible for adoption. The adoption fee for a dog or puppy is $25 and $10 for a cat or kitten. Spaying/neutering is mandatory for all animals. The shelter is open from 11 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday and from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturdays. The phone number is 770-786-9514. Lucy is a Lab-mix and believed to still be a puppy at approximately 10 weeks old. A citizen found her and brought her to the animal shelter. Her adult weight will be about 50 pounds and she would make a great family pet. She can be rescued and adopted at Rockdale County Animal Care and Control Shelter at 1506 Rockbridge Road in Conyers. At the Rockdale shelter adoption fees for dogs are $30 and $20 for cats. Spaying or neutering is required for adoption. The shelter is open from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Friday, and 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturdays. The phone number is 770-278-8403.
