Tigers blanks Dutchtown 6-0

COVINGTON -- Alcovy's Austin Fuller did it in the top half of the inning as the bats came alive in the home half with nine hits to give the Tigers a 6-0 win on Monday.

Fuller was red hot in an important Region 3A-AAAA game as he held the Bulldogs (3-4 overall, 0-2 in Region 3A-AAAA play) to one hit while fanning nine batters.

However, errors keep giving Dutchtown hope before the Alcovy (6-3, 3-0) hitters started producing.

Dalton Reagin crossed the plate for the Tigers on a Fuller, who went 2-for-3, double to give Alcovy the lead in the bottom of the first inning.

While it appeared as if the Tigers were going to score early and often, Dutchtown pitcher Riley Presnell shut down Alcovy. The Tigers did not put another runner on base until the fifth inning. But once it happened it happened often. Following a Josh Beddington (2-for-3) double, Darius Hill used his speed to bunt his way to first base. A sacrifice ground out by Marcus Williams advanced the runners before Hill made it 3-0 after Dusty Daniel and the Tigers took advantage of a Dutchtown error.

Fuller kept things going for the Tigers with a long fly ball over the fence to add to Alcovy's tally to 4-0. Beddington collected his second hit, a double, of the game which plated Hill, who plated Jake Jones on his second hit of the game.

Fuller closed the door on the Bulldogs striking out the side for the shutout.
