Add one more honor for Buck Farmer during a junior season full of accolades.
The Georgia Tech hurler was named, along with teammates Jake Davies and Brandon Thomas, as an ABCA/Rawlings All-Atlantic Region second team member recently.
Farmer, a former Rockdale standout, was Tech's Friday starter throughout the 2012 campaign and was a first-team all-Atlantic Coast Conference selection.
The right-hander deserved the recognition. In 16 starts, Farmer was 8-4 with a 3.54 ERA and 115 strikeouts (third in the ACC) and just 37 walks in 106 innings pitched. He defeated Florida State in the conference tournament opener, part of an unbeaten run to the leaguer crown for the Yellow Jackets.
Earlier this month, Farmer was drafted in the 15th round (485th overall) by the Milwaukee Brewers in the MLB First-Year Player Draft, but he has yet to sign. Farmer, who in 2009 was a 46th round (1,378th overall) selection by the Atlanta Braves out of Rockdale, has until July 13 at 5 p.m. to sign with the Brewers or return to Tech for his senior year.
The ABCA All-Region teams are voted on by head coaches in each region, and since 1984 Farmer is one of 64 players to receive the honor.
