Make that two Heritage track and field athletes headed to the Division 1 ranks in the fall.
Jazz Daniels recently signed a scholarship with Kennesaw State University, joining teammate Alayna Famble, who signed with Rutgers University in April.
Daniels, who at the Region 8-AAAA meet in mid-April finished third in the long jump and fourth in the triple jump, while joining Famble, Valencia Williams and May Robinson in a region title-winning performance in the 400-relay, was a big reason the Patriots were able to win their second consecutive league crown.
"We lost a few seniors last year, a lot of people kind of doubted we'd be able to come back and do it," Heritage coach Jeremy Easley said after the region title. "I felt like we did our best (and) hopefully winning back to back ... hopefully that will raise some eyebrows."
Daniels and the 400-relay quartet finished sixth at the Class AAAA East Sectional on April 28.
