Conyers -- A domestic dispute early Thursday morning sent a woman to an Atlanta area hospital and her boyfriend to jail.
Filip David Bakst, 39, of 608 Upland Ridge Drive, has been charged with aggravated assault, DUI, leaving the scene of an accident with injury, reckless driving and simple battery under the Family Violence Act.
According to the Rockdale County Sheriff's Office, Bakst and his 30-year-old girlfriend were arguing about 2 a.m. Thursday. According to an RCSO report, when Bakst tried to leave the residence on Upland Ridge Drive, his girlfriend tried to stop him and grabbed on to the rear of the vehicle. Bakst reportedly sped off, throwing his girlfriend from the car.
A neighbor who was sitting on his front porch witnessed the incident, ran to help the victim and called 911.
Bakst allegedly drove down the street, hit a mailbox and returned to the residence.
During questioning by a deputy, Bakst reportedly said that the two had been arguing because the girlfriend was drunk and he tried to leave, but she wouldn't let him. According to the report, Bakst had a strong odor of alcohol coming from his person and needed assistance from a deputy to stand and walk. Bakst also told the officer that he did not know how his girlfriend was injured.
The victim sustained multiple injuries in the incident and was transported by ground ambulance to an Atlanta area hospital. The injuries did not appear to be life-threatening, according to the RCSO.
