Pets available for adoption at Rockdale, Newton animal shelters

This long-legged cutie pie is obviously a Chichihua-mix and she is a bundle of energy. Named Carly, she is an adult, weighing approximately 7 to 8 pounds and would make a wonderful TV companion for someone who lives alone. She can be rescued and adopted at Rockdale County Animal Care and Control Shelter at 1506 Rockbridge Road in Conyers. At the Rockdale shelter adoption fees for dogs are $30 and $20 for cats. Spaying or neutering is required for adoption. The shelter is open from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Friday, and 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturdays. The phone number is 770-278-8403.

This little snowflake has been named Babygirl. A terrier-mix, she's less than a year old and will probably weigh a petite 15 pounds as an adult. She is ready to play with a new family. She can be rescued and adopted at Newton County Animal Shelter, located at 210 Lower River Road in Covington. The shelter usually has between 20 to 30 dogs and an equal number of cats eligible for adoption. The adoption fee for a dog or puppy is $25 and $10 for a cat or kitten. Spaying/neutering is mandatory for all animals. The shelter is open from 11 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday and from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturdays. The phone number is 770-786-9514. Anyone who has lost a pet is urged to go to the center and bring a photo of the missing animal.
