Covington Lions Club honorees

Lion John McClure (right) is the recipient of the 2011-2012 Melvin Jones Fellowship Award, the club's most prestigious award. Making the presentation is Richard Brown, past council chairman. The Melvin Jones Fellowship Award is given to the Lion who not only actively participates in the local club, but also in District and State meetings, as well as exemplifying true Lionism. The award is voted on by past recipients of the Melvin Jones Fellowship Award.

Lion Joe Courchaine (right) is the recipient of the Lion of the Year Award for 2012-2013. Presenting the award is Lee Mayfield, last year's recipient. The Lion of the Year Award is given to the member with 100 percent participation in meetings, fundraisers such as the Chicken BBQ, Chili Supper and Pancake Supper, and an all-around example of teamwork and fellowship. The award is voted on by the club members.

The Covington Lions Club recently held its 2012-2013 Officer Installation Banquet and Awards Ceremony. New President Earl Stallworth was inducted as well as the 2012-2013 Covington Lions Board of Directors who are Jimmy Williams, Missy Braden, Janet Brown, Charlotte Lunsford, Doreen Stallworth, Earl Stallworth, Ed Johnson, Joe Courchaine, Randy Worthington, Richard Brown, Minnie Henderson, Frank Jensen, Anne Wheeler, Jerry Aldridge, Charles Berry, Pat Free and Debbie Cope.
