THE RECIPE BOX: Use biscuit dough to make a hearty breakfast of waffles

My husband Kevin has always told me he likes waffle, and I hate to admit this, but we've been married for almost three years now and I just made him waffles for the first time this week.In my defense, we didn't have a waffle iron until this week either. But to be honest, I've kind of been afraid of the whole waffle mixture. It seems to go all over the place when I watch others make them.

I'm happy to report I'm not afraid of homemade waffles anymore, nor am I afraid of the mess -- not when I can use biscuit dough to make a waffle.

Who thinks of these things? Who thought, 'I've got some biscuit dough, what do I do with it? Oh, lets put it on the waffle iron and see what happens?'

What happens is a delicious waffle is created, one that can be topped with your favorite things. Maybe you like fruit and Cool Whip on your waffle. Maybe you are a butter and syrup waffle-eater. What about trying some Nutella on a waffle? I might have to try that one myself.

My personal favorite is cinnamon waffles, which happens to be this week's featured recipe. When cinnamon waffles are made just right, there is no need for butter and syrup -- just a glass of milk.

For all of you moms getting ready to start the school routine again, throw some of the cinnamon covered biscuits on the waffle iron while making those sack lunches.

One little side note. These are heavier than normal waffles, so one waffle might just do it for you.
