Stacey Cotton, public safety director and chief of police for the city of Covington, recently received the 2012 E.G. Lassiter Rotarian of the Year Award from the Rotary Club of Covington. Outgoing President Brook Collins presented the award at the club’s weekly meeting. “Stacey exemplifies Rotary’s belief in service above self,” Collins said. Cotton’s acts of service in 2012 include organizing the Newton County High School Football championship trophy and Covington’s Top 10 Banquet honoring high school seniors. In addition, Cotton has brought many interesting and informative programs to the club and during the upcoming Christmas season will chair the Rotary Empty Stocking Fund. Congratulating Cotton are (not in order) his wife Lana Cotton, son Kyle Cotton, his father Honorable Judge Stacey W. Cotton, retired, mother Suzanne Cotton, and current Rotary Club president Wayne Pugh and Collins.
