Local soccer team headed to England

The Rockdale Youth Soccer Association's director of coaching Rafe Mauran recently announced the under-12 girls Blue team, coached by Michelle Bird, will be the first team from RYSA to travel to Manchester, England, and train with the Wolverhampton Wanderers, an English Premier League team.

"This is a fantastic opportunity for these girls," Mauran said. "They achieved a great deal of success on the field last year going to six finals in the nine tournaments they played. They conducted themselves like champions both on and off the field all season. The girls truly deserve this opportunity. They will be great ambassadors for RYSA and great ambassadors for the game of soccer."

Mauran and RYSA had announced a partnership with the Wanderers earlier in the year.

"The partnership will improve our existing recreation, academy and select format in regards to player and coaching education, expand our player's and coaches' horizons by traveling to and training at the Wolves academy, and exposing our players to the Wolves academy staff and philosophy through summer camp opportunities here at RYSA," Mauran said.Fall baseball registration under wayLocal youth baseball players still have plenty of opportunity to play fall baseball.
