On behalf of the State Bar of Georgia, I am writing to congratulate Alcovy Judicial Circuit Superior Court Judge Horace J. Johnson Jr. on his appointment by Chief Justice George H. Carley of the Supreme Court of Georgia to serve on the newly formed Accountability Court Funding Committee.
Judge Johnson will have the opportunity to have a positive, lasting impact on Georgia's justice system through his service on the committee, which is part of the state's efforts to establish drug courts and mental health courts to provide sentencing alternatives for some non-violent offenders.
All Georgia lawyers and judges should appreciate Judge Johnson's continued commitment to public service as demonstrated by his acceptance of this appointment, which helps promote the cause of justice, uphold the rule of law and protect the rights of all citizens. We wish him well in this new position of statewide leadership.
