Teen reports rape while at theatre camp held at Newton High

COVINGTON -- The Newton County Sheriff's Office is looking into allegations made by a 14-year-old that she was sexually assaulted in a restroom at Newton High School while attending Musical Theatre Camp, sponsored by the Arts Association of Newton County.

NCSO Public Information Officer Deputy Courtney Morrison said the incident occurred Friday, sometime between 11 a.m. and 12:30 p.m.

The victim told NCSO investigators that when she left the auditorium to go to the female restroom a man attacked her from behind wearing all black and gloves, Morrison said.

"There was no description given. She couldn't see the person behind her. Never saw skin color and no descriptive features," Morrison said. "The victim said he pulled her down to the floor and sexually assaulted her."

Morrison said the young girl said she was able to get away from her assailant when she "mule kicked" him by kicking backwards.

"She said she got up and ran out of the door and immediately went back and reported the incident to adults in the auditorium," Morrison said. "EMS was called to the scene and she was released without transport. She was later seen at a hospital."

Morrison said nothing of evidentiary value was located by investigators at the scene who took a report of the incident.

"Investigators are currently still looking into it," she said.

People do this crap because there's no justice in the land. They believe they can get away with anything or with greatly reduced charges. To all you godless people who made this possible, see you upstairs...

It is "always" a good idea to be certain all the facts on any "reported" situation are out before commenting as your slip may start to show. The CN paper has published a report that this young lady is now being charged. What say you, now?

This was a prank. It was reported in the other paper that the girl has been charger with a fake criminal report. I hope this girl understands the serious nature of what she did.

Sad, it makes one wonder how many have done such things as make a false crime report then, get caught up in the hoopla of supporters and just go along? At fourteen she knows better and I'm glad the S.O will be charging her. My thanks and prayers go out to the mother who reported this even though it must have been a difficult thing for her to do. Parents we are not helping our kids when we cover up their unwise decisions or refuse to do what we know to be right when it is brought to our attention. A similar case of parents doing the right thing is when the teen in Atlanta kidnapped a man and, his parents turned him in to police. I was told as a young man coming up, that if I got into trouble with the law that there would be consequences.
