"So let me get this straight ... If you cross the North Korean border illegally, you get 12 years hard labor. If you cross the Afghanistan border illegally, you get shot. Two Americans just got eight years for crossing the Iranian border. If you cross the U.S. border illegally you get a job, a drivers license, food stamps, a place to live, health care, housing and child benefits, education, and a tax free business for seven years ... No wonder we are a country in debt."
"I dare any DOE school board member, our school superintendent, or any school administrator that has conveniently forgotten their 'classroom teacher years' to fill in for a sick classroom teacher as a substitute, for a whole day now mind you, and see what he/she must endure for eight hours. Even the five or six in a classroom of 30 that are normally a pleasure to teach, act up because everyone else is! Also, take home the salary that he/she made that day (with a bachelor's degree ... about $58) and you're coming very close to a furlough day. This doesn't even include damages from post traumatic stress disorder! OBTY, this, with a college degree, is only $2 more than a work day at McDonald's."
"Should you decide to print my piece entitled, 'I dare you ....,' please add (just below those comments if possible) the most influential guests of them all, the students' parents! But only under the condition that they be assigned to classrooms and student lunches that their children don't attend. I would love to read some true, unfiltered feedback on things they've all seen and/or heard. It's time our powers that be begin thinking once again, 'inside' the great brick house. Thanks."
"If you take a furniture loan from Ramsey does the warranty stay valid or is it like car loan?"
"Is anyone else out there tired of hearing on TV about structured settlements, losing 10 pounds in 10 days or the classic ....'order now and we'll double this offer!....Just pay separate shipping and handling.' Apparently some are, since they continue to run the ads! What are we? Idiots? Our GOP runners can't even afford this much air time."
"OK this is week two -- still no returned phone calls and no returned emails. After this week's rain two more pot holes have showed up in the Falcon Ridge subdivision and the only thing that is filling them up is water. If the dip in the road gets any bigger I will have to start parking on Smith Store and walk the half a mile to the house. Thanks for the help BOC. I have seen better keep roads in third world countries. Maybe we should ask Porterdale to annex us."
"Since my husband's retirement last year we have joined senior breakfast groups at several local restaurants. We were shocked to learn the large number of seniors who were victimized by crime. These ranged from robbery to I.D. theft. Most of these people live in Covington, and they don't seem to be protected. How come we don't read about these people in the local papers? Do the Covington Police not make crime reports or not release them to the papers? Some of these seniors seem to live in fear and lock their doors and stay home after dark. I now agree with some of the people who think the police should focus on crime instead of road blocking. We are planning on getting a home security system."
"When picking up my granddaughter at Eastside High School I have experienced inconsiderate drivers in the car riders line. The road in front of their front entrance is not wide enough for cars in parking places and then three rows of cars behind the parking places. When a student comes out to leave, their ride cannot get through. Those parking in the middle are selfish, inconsiderate, stupid and only thinking of themselves. Maybe one of the two police officers could come out early and keep that center lane clear and make those people realize they are not privileged."
"I was calling about a comment in a previous poll talking about this is what is wrong with America. I don't know who wrote that, but I sure wish he would run for governor and allow me to the pleasure of being the first one to vote for him."
"GPC is in the news a lot lately. If they want to really like Newton they need to do away with that (employee) who is referring to donors who helped get your campus going as racists. It is at a boiling point."
