OAKWOOD, Ga. (AP) -- A northeast Georgia town's attempt to annex roads that would connect it with Lake Lanier has been rejected by county commissioners.
Oakwood city officials had asked Hall County to allow it to annex the roads, saying that having access to the lake is part of the community's long-range plan.
Reports say that Hall County commissioners voted 4-0 against the plan on Thursday night.
The commissioners said they believed the plan would have denied residents along the roads any say in future council decisions concerning potential property uses off the roads.
Oakwood is about 45 miles northeast of Atlanta.
