ATLANTA (AP) -- A Stone Mountain woman facing charges in the death of an Atlanta police officer is scheduled to appear in court Thursday at 11 a.m.
Police say 22-year-old Chasity Nicole Jones was charged with first-degree homicide by vehicle, drunken driving and reckless driving after Senior Police Officer Gail D. Thomas was struck and killed by a car late Tuesday night.
Authorities say Thomas was struck while helping another officer who was investigating an earlier wreck on an interstate ramp, authorities said.
Jail records show that Jones was being held on $1,100 bond. The records do not indicate whether she has an attorney in the case.
Funeral arrangements for the fallen officer are pending.
