Conyers man faces drug distribution charges

CONYERS -- The Rockdale County Sheriff's Office Narcotics and Vice Unit arrested a 21-year-old man on multiple drug charges following an investigation that lasted more than a month.

Demetrius Deon Price of 3301 Harvest Grove Lane, was arrested Jan. 17 after undercover officers made two drug purchases from him, according to Investigator Michael Camp.

According to Camp, undercover officers bought marijuana, powdered cocaine and crack cocaine from the suspect during an investigation that began in early December.

On Jan. 17 officers obtained a search warrant for Price's apartment.

"They used the SWAT Team just to make entry and secure everybody based on previous dealings with them, but there were no issues," Camp said.

Three other people in the apartment at the time of the search were detained but subsequently released, Camp said.

Inside the apartment officers found a small amount of marijuana, 2 grams of powdered cocaine, 13 muscle relaxer pills packaged for individual sale, and five Xanax pills packaged for individual sale, Camp said. In addition, a small amount of cash, a marijuana grinder, digital scales and other drug-related items were recovered.

Price faces charges of possession of cocaine with intent to distribute, possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, possession of a Schedule IV drug with intent to distribute, and possession of a dangerous drug with intent to distribute.

He is being held in the Rockdale County Jail on a $25,000 bond.
