ATLANTA -- Former Heritage star Callie Alford is about to make the transition to major college softball.
Alford, the former Region 8-AAAA player of the year and all-state selection for the Patriots, begins her freshman season when Georgia State opens against Longwood Feb. 11.
Alford will once again team up with Whitney Phillips, a former Heritage infielder in her junior season with the Panthers. Phillips hit .287 (41 of 143) as a sophomore and led the team with 16 stolen bases.
