The Salem girls soccer team will have a pair of players move on to the next level as twin sisters Alayna and Mariel Smith have verbally committed to Alabama State University. The duo will sign with the Montgomery, Ala., school at Salem, Feb. 3 at 2 p.m.
Another local athlete, Heritage wrestler Boyce Cornwell, has also verbally committed to a college. Cornwell, a state placer last season, has committed to Gardner-Webb University and will wrestle in the 197-pound weight class as a freshman.
