Pets available for adoption this week at Rockdale, Newton shelters

This female Lab-mix has been named Las. She was found as a stray and weighs approximately 35 pounds. Looking stylish, she has a short fawn coat accented with white paws. She can be rescued and adopted at Rockdale County Animal Care and Control Shelter at 1506 Rockbridge Road in Conyers. At the Rockdale shelter adoption fees for dogs are $30 and $20 for cats. Spaying or neutering is required for adoption. The shelter is open from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Friday, and 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturdays. The phone number is 770-278-8403.

Someone has misplaced their baby. This little black and white cutie is about a year old and is quite obviously a Chihuahua. A female, she weighs a petite 7 pounds. She can be rescued and adopted at Newton County Animal Shelter, located at 210 Lower River Road in Covington. The shelter usually has between 20 to 30 dogs and an equal number of cats eligible for adoption. The adoption fee for a dog or puppy is $25 and $10 for a cat or kitten. Spaying/neutering is mandatory for all animals. The shelter is open from 11 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday and from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturdays. The phone number is 770-786-9514. Anyone who has lost a pet is urged to go to the center and bring a photo of the missing animal.
