Rockdale's swimming team had a strong showing at last weekend's invitational meet at the University of Georgia.
The Bulldogs finished 16th out of 38 teams with the boys placing 15th and the girls, 16th. The boys finish was aided by the 400-freestyle relay team (Amir Munajj, Matthew Bennett, Davis Foster and Adam Scaffe), which qualified for the state meet with a time of 3:43.46.
Before the meet in Athens, Rockdale finished first among four teams, including local rival Salem, on Thursday at Johnson Park. The Bulldogs outpaced second-place Paideia, 412-320 in the overall race, while the boys defeated Decatur, 207-160 and the girls knocked off Paideia, 205-183.
"Between Thursday night and Saturday afternoon, every swimmer swam a season best in at least one event," Rockdale coach Stephen Sansing said. "That is what I'm excited about, that we are starting to peak at the right time. We've still got two weeks to go until the big one (state meet)."
Salem finished fourth overall, collecting 156 points.
