CONYERS -- The Hospital Authority of Rockdale County has announced it will accept applications for the grants program that supports local charitable health care initiatives.
HARC will accept grant proposals from Feb. 6 through Feb. 29. The grants are open to all nonprofit and government agencies working to improve the physical and mental health of Rockdale County residents.
The HARC grant program has awarded grants to 22 organizations and invested almost $250,000 in local projects and programs since it was launched in May 2010.
"I am excited about the upcoming grants cycle and the continuation of our partnership with other organizations committed to addressing the health care needs of Rockdale residents," HARC Chairman Benny Atkins in a statement.
This will be the fourth grant cycle for HARC grants. Authority members will go through a four-month review process of all grant proposals after the applications are received. Grant awards will be announced in June. A second grant cycle will begin in August.
In September 2011, Mercy Heart Health Clinic received $50,000 and Care and Counseling Center of Georgia received $5,000 as the most recent HARC grant recipients.
HARC grant funds are available for three categories -- primary care access/clinics grants, small community grants and immediate need mini grants.
The Hospital Authority launched the grants program with the interest money accrued from the February 2009 sale of Rockdale Medical Center to LifePoint Hospitals. The authority conducted a community needs assessment to establish priorities in the county's health needs.
Details of each of the grants and guidelines are available at www.rockdaleha.org.
Agencies must attend an orientation session/pre-proposal conference before submitting an application. Sessions will be held in the HARC offices in the East Tower of Rockdale Medical Center, 1412 Milstead Ave., Conyers as follows:
