Seven arrested in Rockdale on drug charges

CONYERS -- Seven suspects, including one wanted for armed robbery, were arrested Jan. 5 following complaints of suspected drug sales from a house on Old Mill Way.

The Rockdale County Sheriff's Office Narcotics and Vice Unit arrested the seven suspects from Conyers and Covington following a search of the house at 168 Old Mill Way in south Rockdale County.

According to Investigator Michael Camp, the Narcotics and Vice Unit began conducting surveillance at the Old Mill Way residence based on numerous complaints over the past year about possible drug activity. Over the past several months, the unit made undercover purchases of marijuana at the house, according to Camp.

Based on information that indicated the possibility of weapons in the house, the Narcotics and Vice Unit called for the assistance of the RCSO SWAT Team in executing a search warrant on Jan. 5. According to Camp, the search turned up approximately 3 ounces of marijuana, two handguns, a substance believed to be liquid Codeine, and drug paraphernalia.

There were 12 people in the house at the time of the search, according to Camp, but only seven were arrested. They were: Zachary Taylor Haedike, 21, of 765 Cowan Drive, Covington; Casey Alec Kirkpatrick, 17, of 168 Old Mill Way, Conyers; Kris Alan Kirkpatrick, 17, of 168 Old Mill Way, Conyers; Joshua Jordan Lightner, 17, of 168 Old Mill Way, Conyers; Nicole Ashlee Maya, 19, of 3136 Brians Creek Drive, Conyers; Andrew Rutledge, 18, Ga. Highway 212, Covington; and Kenndual Reshaud Thorton, 17, of 683 3rd Ave., Conyers.

According to Camp, Haedike was charged with misdemeanor possession of marijuana. Casey and Kris Kirkpatrick, Maya, and Rutledge were all charged with possession with intent to distribute marijuana. Lightner was charged with possession with intent to distribute marijuana and obstruction. Thorton was charged with possession with intent to distribute marijuana, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, and possession of a Schedule II controlled substance.

Thorton also had outstanding warrants charging him with armed robbery and carrying a concealed weapon in connection with a robbery that occurred on Tuesday, Jan. 3, at the Chevron located at 2302 Ebenezer Road in Conyers.

According to authorities, Thorton was believed to have been a passenger in a vehicle driven by William Blake Stewart, 17, of East Fairview Road, Stockbridge. Thorton allegedly got into the back seat of another vehicle at the gas pumps and demanded money from the victim in the car. Thorton allegedly got back into the vehicle driven by Stewart and they drove away at a high rate of speed.

The robbery victim, who reportedly recognized both Thorton and Stewart, went to the Sheriff's Office to report the incident.

Stewart is charged with armed robbery and probation violation. He was arrested on Jan. 7.

Both Thorton and Stewart remain in the Rockdale County Jail without bond.
