Arline Chapman, Porterdale's first woman mayor, was sworn into office before a packed house of city residents, family and well-wishers Monday night. Chapman was sworn in by former Georgia Attorney General Thurbert Baker, for whom she worked for four years prior to leaving state government. Also sworn in Monday night were Councilwoman Anita Rainey, who was elected to her first term in office in November, and Councilwoman Linda Finger, who was elected to a second term in November. Councilman Tim Savage was sworn into office in December to fill the Post 3 seat that was previously held by Chapman. Savage was also elected in November to fill the unexpired Post 3 seat.
