Skeletal remains found on Thanksgiving identified as Griffin man

COVINGTON -- The Georgia Bureau of Investigation Medical Examiner's Office has positively identified the skeletal remains that were found in a wooded area near Odum Street on Thanksgiving Day, according to the Covington Police Department.

The body was that of Aron Samuel Lee Hudson, 18, of Griffin. Officials believe the cause of death was suicide.

Hudson had been placed on the website of the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children in April 2011.

"The Griffin Police Department actively investigated his disappearance along with agents from the GBI," said CPD Public Information Officer Ken Malcom in a printed statement released Friday afternoon. "Through their investigation, Hudson had last been seen by family and friends in January of 2011. It was later determined that officers with the Covington Police Department had contact with Hudson in February 2011 prior to him being reported as missing."

At the time the remains were found, Malcom said there were two extensive searches of the area by members of the Covington Police Department, the GBI, the Covington Fire Department and the Newton County Coroner's Office.

"All relevant items discovered during these two searches were submitted to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation Medical Examiner's Office for forensic analysis to determine the identity of the remains," Malcom said.

The GBI lab could not determine the exact cause and time of death.

"However, based on the evidence recovered, it appears that the cause of death was suicide," Malcom said.

What makes them think suicide? What proof or evidence do you have that shows this? I am Aron's aunt, and this is the first time suicide has been mentioned!!

I'm wondering why nobody has contacted me, answering my questions?! Extremely unprofessional... especially considering the circumstances!

I agree what makes them feel this was a suicide??? When i use to see this gentleman walking in loganville ga he was a outgoing guy and he was kind and respectful and handsome.... he didnt seem like the type that would do this. Please before any information or thought is put out there make sure there is evidence because his family really truly need to know so they can ease their minds. My thoughts and prayers go out to this young mans family...and if it was foul play GOD have MERCY on the person who did this.
