"Darrell Huckaby outdoes himself and proves he listens only to Faux News. We should all know by now that studies have proven that Faux News is so inaccurate that it is worse than listening to no news. Darrell in a recent 'editorial' claimed that President Obama stated that 'he was the fourth best president in history -- behind only LBJ, FDR and Abraham Lincoln.' That is not at all what the president said! Darrell should be ashamed of himself. There is no need to be ignorant and blame Obama for something he did not say or do. Fact: People who bash President Obama and other minority leaders for non-reasons are hiding latent anti-minority racism disguised as misguided political rhetoric. The following is a brief excerpt concerning what transpired and the actual quote from the president: During a '60 Minutes' interview by Steve Kroft, President Barack Obama was questioned about his administration's accomplishments and challenges. The president responded by saying, 'The issue here is not gonna be a list of accomplishments. As you said yourself, Steve, you know, I would put our legislative and foreign policy accomplishments in our first two years against any president -- with the possible exceptions of Johnson, F.D.R., and Lincoln -- just in terms of what we've gotten done in modern history. But, you know, when it comes to the economy, we've got a lot more work to do. And we're gonna keep on at it.' It was Kroft who earlier in this interview said Obama had 'some impressive accomplishments' that were 'more than a lot of presidents who manage to get reelected.' The president clearly stated that he was talking about his administration's 'legislative and foreign policy accomplishments in our first two years" compared to those of other presidents. The president's comments were completely within the context of Steve Kroft's statements and questions. ..."
"A viewpoint (editorial) column in your Dec. 9, 2011 edition written by Mr. Jack Simpson portrays the immense achievements of ex-FBI Director J. Edgar Hoover. Mr. Hoover took a small Bureau of Federal Agents and transformed it into the greatest crime-fighting institution the world has ever known. He was able to accomplish this feat by demanding 'high standards for himself and his employees.' Mr. Simpson quotes Mr. Hoover as saying: 'you not only have to be right, you have to look right.' Mr. Hoover had strict legal and moral standards and codes in place that all his agents were expected to honor. The Internal Revenue Service also has a strict code of conduct for their enforcement personnel which is incorporated into the U.S. Code. Their agents are referred to as 'The Untouchables.' Past comments to the Newton Citizen Poll and known public behavior by officers from the Covington Police Department seem to indicate that they have no standards of conduct, but they are also totally oblivious as to what one even is. This could explain their low morale problems and their mediocre achievement statistical record. This could also explain the large element of mistrust residents feel toward the Covington Police Department. The department seems to operate as a bloated jobs program with no sense of direction. I highly recommend the mayor and the city manager of Covington read Mr. Simpson's above referenced column. Signed, Been Burglarized Three Times."
"I was calling about the Baltimore Ravens football player criticizing Tim Tebow saying they didn't need God on the sidelines. What in the world is wrong with that man? I think that is what is wrong with the world today, God is took out of way to many situations. I think he needs a reality check."
"To the person who wrote in about night driving being dangerous and wanted to know what could be done of making it better. Really there is nothing to be done as long as the material used is cheap and nonreflective to use a good one cost more money and the county or the city or whoever is not going to do that. So, you are going to have to deal with what you got. I wish it could change but that is the way it is."
"I would like to compliment the Newton County Fire Department Station 1 on Flat Shoals Road, Porterdale Fire Station 11 on Main Street in Porterdale, Newton County EMS Medic 5 for their quick response to my house on the past Wednesday when my house was on fire. Thank you very much. We need more updated and professional people like you guys. Also the Porterdale Police Department was involved. Thank you very much."
"I was calling about Paul Johnson, Georgia Tech coach. It just seems like he can't win big games. Look at his record. He just lost the Sun Bowl. It just looks like he can't win big games. I can't understand why. I can understand being man handled but still if you get out there and play stupid like they do sometimes then you deserve to lose."
