Human skull, remains found near Buford

BUFORD -- Investigators believe partial skeletal remains found near Buford on Thursday afternoon are that of an adult male and have been in the heavily wooded area for a long time, officials said.

Police continued the search for more remains Friday after a person walking through woods a few hundred yards from Brown Road, between Sunny Hill and Morgan roads, stumbled on a human skull and other bones about 4:30 p.m., said Gwinnett police spokesman Cpl. Edwin Ritter.

"It appears that the bones have been there for quite some time," Ritter said.

It's believed the remains are that of a black or Hispanic male, according to the Gwinnett County Medical Examiner's Office, Ritter said.

A cause of death is under investigation.
