CONYERS -- An undercover investigation culminated in the arrests of two suspects Thursday on charges of possession of methamphetamine, and the arrest of a third suspect is pending.
According to Investigator Michael Camp with the Rockdale County Sheriff's Office, the RCSO's Narcotics/Vice Unit conducted the undercover operation for about two months following a tip that meth was being sold at the house at 1701 Oak St. According to Camp, a couple of undercover buys at the house led to a search warrant that was served on Dec. 29.
The suspects, Tammy Jelene Land, 41, of 1701 Oak St., and William Chris Lane, 44, of the same address, were each charged with possession of methamphetamine after less than a gram of the drug was found on each of them during the search, according to Camp.
Camp said Tuesday both suspects remained in the Rockdale County jail on bonds of $2,500 each.
The third suspect, who was actually the original subject of the investigation, is in the hospital for a pre-existing condition, Camp said. Authorities expect to arrest him upon his release from the hospital. Camp said he will likely be charged with possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute.
Camp said officers confiscated about 8 grams of meth believed to belong to the third suspect. He was renting a room at the house that belongs to Lane, Camp said.
Camp added that it did not appear that the meth was being manufactured at the house on Oak Street.
