ATLANTA (AP) -- The Georgia Senate is honoring American Idol runner-up Lauren Alaina.
The Rossville native and former high school cheerleader worked at Cici's Pizza before her stint on the popular reality entertainment show. Her debut album, "Wildflower," was released in October.
Alaina, now 17, thanked senators for recognizing her hard work and says her life "has been a total whirlwind for the last year and a half."
