Laura Barnes
Laura Holcomb Barnes, age 53 of McDonough, passed away Thursday, February 23, 2012. She is survived by her husband of 31 years, John I. “Butch” Barnes, McDonough; daughter and son-in-law, Traci and Jason McBay, Covington; son, John Barnes, McDonough; mother, Elizabeth “Beth” Holcomb, Jonesboro; sisters and brothers-in-law, Marcia and Jeff Pundsack, Jonesboro, Sandra and Jerry Oglesbee, McDonough; granddaughters, Brynlee and Ellison McBay and many nieces and nephews. Laura graduated from Young Harris College in 1978, then graduated from North Georgia College in 1980 where she was a member of the Phi Mu Sorority and earned her Master’s Degree at the University of Georgia in 1994. She was a member of Rockdale Baptist Church. Laura was previously employed by the Rockdale County DFACS and was currently employed as the Licensed Clinical Social Worker with the Rockdale County School System. Funeral services will be held Monday, February 27, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. at Rockdale Baptist Church, 1295 Smyrna Rd., Conyers, with Rev. Billy Moss and Rev. Dwayne Jones officiating; interment will follow at Green Meadow Memorial Gardens. Mrs. Barnes remains will lie in state at the church from 1:00 until 2:00 p.m. The family will receive friends Sunday from 2:00 until 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. Condolences may be submitted on-line at www.scotward.com.
