Jackie Rutberg is replacing the pulpit fall with a Lenten one for the beginning of Lent this Weds. Jackie Rutberg a member of Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd who is a member of the Altar Guild and co-chair of the Flower Guild at the church prepares the altar for the Lenten Imposition of Ashes to be held at the church on Weds. at 11:00am and 7:00pm this ash Weds. the 22nd. Rutberg is preparing to place the "Burse" over the "veil" which is covering the pottery communion set. During the Lenten season which has purple as its color, the altar is toned down as well as the entire church to go with the quietness of Lent. Brass is taken away and brass cross covered. The cross is covered with linen. Wrought iron and wood are used in place of anything brass. No flowers are used during the Lenten season at this church. The curly willow branches represent the reaching towards the heaven and are simple. Palm's replace the curly willow branches on Palm Sunday.
