COVINGTON -- Relay for Life is still more than two months away, but fundraising is in full force.
The 4th annual Newton County Run for Hope is one of the annual events that benefits Relay, the American Cancer Society's largest fundraiser. Run for Hope is a 5K run/walk and 1-mile fun run that takes place Sunday, March 4, at Cousins Middle School, located at 8187 Carlton Trail N.W. The fun run gets under way at 2:30 p.m. followed by the 5K at 3 p.m.
Registration is ongoing through Feb. 29. The entry fee is $20 per person. To access a registration form, go to www.relayforlife.org/newtonga and look under the Event Announcements, email firstname.lastname@example.org or call 706-549-4893.
Registration forms should be mailed, with checks made payable to the American Cancer Society, to Victoria Patrick; ACS -- 1684 Barnett Shoals Road, Athens, GA; 30605. Registration the day of the run begins at 1 p.m. and is $25.

The event is sponsored by the Newton County Relay for Life Committee. Organizer Beth Bradley said the committee hopes to best last year's tally of $1,500. Last year's event drew 269 participants.
"It is a family event for all to do," Bradley said.
Awards are given to the overall top male and female finishers, overall male and female master and top three male and female finishers in age categories.
The 2012 Newton County Relay for Life takes place April 27 at The Church at Covington.
