COVINGTON — The Georgia State Patrol reported a crash Thursday night involving a Nissan and a tractor trailer. Thirty-four-year-old James Leitch of Snellville died at the scene.
Initial reports by the GSP indicated it was at Ga. Highway 81 and Brown Road, but it actually was at Highway 81 and Cowan Road in front of Livingston Elementary School.
“The man was driving a Nissan and pulled from Cowan Road into the path of an oncoming tractor trailer,” said GSP spokesman Gordy Wright. “The truck hit the car in the driver’s side and then hit a guy wire to a utility pole. ... The driver of the Nissan was killed on impact.”
The truck driver was taken to Newton Medical Center for treatment.
