CONYERS -- The Rockdale County state legislative delegation invites residents to attend a listening session Wednesday, Feb. 22, at the Rockdale Career Academy to discuss the ongoing Georgia General Assembly session.
The meeting will be held from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. in the auditorium of RCA, located at 1064 Culpepper Drive, in Conyers.
Scheduled to attend the meeting to are Rep. Pam Stephenson, D-Decatur and delegation chairwoman, Rep. Dee Dawkins-Haigler, D-Lithonia, Rep. Pam Dickerson, D-Conyers, Rep. Dar'shun Kendrick, D-Lithonia, Sen. Rick Jeffares, R-Locust Grove, and Sen. Ronald Ramsey, D-Decatur.
The representatives and senators will give an update on pending legislation and take comments from residents.
Local legislators will also attend a town hall meeting in Snellville from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 18. The meeting will be held at the Centerville Community Center, located at 3025 Bethany Church Road and just west of the intersection with Ga. Highway 124. Ramsey and Kendrick are scheduled to attend.
In other news, Kendrick is hosting a "Face of Foreclosure" rally from 12:30 to 2 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 23, on the Georgia Capitol's west wing steps facing Washington Street in Atlanta.
The rally will be in support of House Bill 781, sponsored by Kendrick. If signed into law, Kendrick's bill would move Georgia from a non-judicial foreclosure state to a judicial foreclosure process state. The bill would also restrict lenders from seeking a deficiency judgement against the homeowner.
