ATLANTA (AP) -- Forecasters say a mix of freezing rain and snow is possible over parts of north Georgia as moisture combines with cold air in the region.
The National Weather Service has issued a winter weather advisory for Tuesday morning covering more than a dozen counties in north Georgia.
The weather service says up to 1.5 inches of snow is expected in parts of north Georgia Tuesday morning, with periods of freezing rain. Forecasters say they expect the precipitation to change to all rain before noon Tuesday.
The winter weather advisory covers Dade, Walker, Catoosa, Whitfield, Murray, Fannin, Gilmer, Union, Towns, Chattooga, Pickens, Dawson, Lumpkin and White counties.
In metro Atlanta, forecasters say rain -- possibly mixed with sleet -- is possible, mainly after 1 a.m. Tuesday.
